CEAF News - Empowering Cree Business Growth

CEAF Cap Increased to $150,000
The Department of Commerce and Industry (DCI) is pleased to announce a major enhancement to the Cree Entrepreneurship Assistance Fund (CEAF). Effective October 23, 2025, the maximum grant available under CEAF has been increased from $100,000 to $150,000, while maintaining the program’s established threshold of up to 25% of total project costs.
Grand Chief Paul John Murdoch expressed his support for the enhancement, emphasizing the importance of ensuring that Cree businesses are positioned to succeed:
“Our entrepreneurs have told us that they need greater support to fully participate in our own economy. Enhancing the CEAF cap empowers Cree businesses to invest, expand, and claim the space that rightfully belongs to them in Eeyou Istchee. The Department of Commerce and Industry must be commended for their continued prioritization of Cree companies and helping Cree leaders build a strong and united Cree economy.”
Deputy Grand Chief Linden Spencer also welcomed the update, reinforcing the value of investing in Cree businesses:
“Enhancing the CEAF cap is a practical way to support our entrepreneurs. This update gives Cree business owners more room to bring their ideas forward and grow their businesses in a way that benefits our communities.”
The enhanced CEAF ceiling provides greater flexibility for Cree entrepreneurs to invest in equipment, infrastructure, and construction as they launch, scale, or diversify their operations.
The updated CEAF policy, application forms, and guidelines are now available on the Department of Commerce and Industry webpage: ➡ https://www.cngov.ca/governance-structure/departments/commerce-and-industry/
