What is the goal of this registry?
The Cree Nation Business Registry’s mission is to connect customers with community businesses so that together, we can grow our economy. Cree entrepreneurs publish a profile with relevant information about their company to increase their online visibility. Customers searching for these services can find them through the website.
What businesses are included in the registry?
Businesses across multiple industries can be added to the registry: construction, professional services, retail, health care, and not-for-profits.
What are “connecting factors”?
The “connecting factors” are the criteria agreed upon by the Grand Council Crees (Eeyou Istchee) / Cree Nation Government Board of Directors to decide which businesses can or cannot be included as Cree within the Business Registry. Please contact us should you have specific questions or concerns about your eligibility.
How do I update the information about my business?
You can update your business profile at any time. Simply email us at businessregistry@cngov.ca and let us know what information should be added, removed, or corrected. We’ll make the updates as soon as possible. Alternatively, you can create a user account that gives you direct access to edit your business profile. To do this, click “Business Login”, then select “Create your account.” Enter your first and last name, your email address, and create a password. Once submitted, we’ll receive a notification and link your user account to your business profile. After that, you’ll be able to log in and manage your business information directly.

You can enter keywords in the search box and filter the results to find the most relevant match to find a business. You can also do a broader search using pre-determined criteria such as by industry, owner, community, etc.
What are some tips for searching effectively?
Suppose you would like to receive multiple suggestions. In that case, you can start by selecting criteria such as industry and community and filtering the results. You can also enter terms within the search box to search for a more specific company.

Why should I register my business?
The registry's goal is to stimulate economic and cultural growth within our communities. Adding your business to the site gives you visibility and increases your chances of connecting with new customers and opportunities. Registering your company helps you contribute to the local economy and enables you to reach customers who specifically want to support you.
Who should register for this site?
Any business owner or entrepreneur that is part of Cree Nation communities and meets the connecting factors criteria can register their business on the site.
Searching for an Opportunity
How do I search for an opportunity?
You can enter keywords in the search box and filter the results to find the most relevant match. You can also do a broader search using pre-determined criteria such as status, industry, owner, or community. All these filters can be combined.
What opportunities are included in the index?
The opportunity index contains opportunities published by companies listed in the Company Registry as well as those published by authorized entities. These opportunities can be open or closed. For the closed opportunities you will be able to see if they have been granted.
How can I bid on an opportunity?
To bid on an opportunity, click the “Bid” button next to the listing. This will redirect you to an external website where you can submit your bid directly to the opportunity provider. Please note that all bidding takes place outside of the Business Registry platform.
Subscribe to an Opportunity Alert
How to subscribe to an alert?
In the opportunity index, simply select the filters for which you want to create your alert and enter your email address. You can set up as many different alerts as you want. If any results match your criteria, you will receive your alert on a weekly basis.
Publish an Opportunity
How to publish an opportunity?
To post opportunities, you will need to be both listed in the Business Registry and have created an account. 1. To register your business, please refer to the Registering a Business section of this Help section. 2. To create your account, simply click on the Log in / Sign up button and follow the steps indicated. Once your business has been created and linked to your account, you will be taken to your user interface where you can create and manage the posting of opportunities.
Can an entity that is not listed in the Business Registry publish a business opportunity?
If you are the representative of an entity that does not want to be listed on the Business Registry but is interested in publishing opportunities (e.g., the Cree School Board), please contact us.

Do I need to apply for CBE certification if my community hasn't signed the Cree Nation Economic Prioritization Agreement?
No. If your community has not ratified the Cree Nation Economic Prioritization Agreement, you are not required to apply for CBE certification at this time. As of now, only Wemindji and Ouje-Bougoumou have formally signed on to the agreement. If you have questions about your community’s participation or the potential to become a signatory, we encourage you to contact your local government for more information.
How long does Cree Community-Based Enterprise certification last?
CBE certification is valid for one year. After that, businesses must renew their certification annually to maintain their status.

How can I tell if a business is Cree Community-based Enterprise Certified?
Certified businesses are marked with a green badge icon next to the words “Cree Community-based Enterprise Certified” on their profile. This label confirms the business has met the certification criteria under the Cree Nation Economic Prioritization Agreement.
What are the benefits of being CBE Certified?
Certified businesses are prioritized in contracting decisions by CNEPA signatory communities. They also receive a visible badge on their profile and appear in searches filtered for CBE-certified businesses.
What is the Cree Community-based Enterprise Certification application?
The Cree Community Based Enterprise, or CBE, application is how a business becomes certified under the Cree Nation Economic Prioritization Agreement, also known as CNEPA. This certification confirms that the business is Cree owned and rooted in the community. It gives the business priority access to contract opportunities in participating communities. At this time, only businesses located in Wemindji and Ouje Bougoumou are eligible to apply, because they are the only communities that have signed the agreement. If your community has not signed on, you do not need to apply for certification. For more details, please reach out to your local government. Once approved, certification is valid for one year and must be renewed annually.
